Wei is the first participant of GMC and has nine years of entrepreneurship. There are so many things to talk with Wei.
Let me introduce myself to you first.
I am Wei. I was born in Dalian in 1981 and graduated from Wuhan University in 2002. I joined GMC as the first participant in 2005.
I started my own business in 2012 and established Dalian Zhongyi Industrial Technology Co., LTD., where I am now serving as the general manager.
Let's talk about Wei's experience in chronological order. What was the process of joining the GMC back then? What is the gain from it?
The recruiting slogan caught my eye: A soldier who doesn't want to be a general is not a good soldier. I have a dream to become a better version of myself and a business leader.
Resumes were sent out, followed by an interview with Sugiyama, a group interview with five people, a meeting with the president and a dinner party. Soon after passing the interview, I went on a business trip to Chengdu to participate in the first automobile beauty shop project and went to the office of Minamifuji. Learn and grow by doing projects.
At that time, I felt that it was a real time to go out of the campus and accept the formal practical training of the enterprise. Every week, Chairman Sugiyama flies back from Japan to give us training. About the need for an A4 presentation of the report, about the way of drawing, about business etiquette, about thinking, about the need to inspire employees' dreams as a leader, about the digital business philosophy, all came into my mind at that time. In retrospect, it was really an MBA training, but I was young at that time and didn't understand the value of the training at all. Only when I start my own business now can I understand the value of the personal training from the president.
At that time, the life plan was to become a leader of an enterprise, and to make a valuable product that could help the enterprise. But there is no clear description of what can be done.
Now looking back on the past, the biggest hope, the first is that we should listen to the president's guidance, pay more, practice more, get the opportunity, rather than calculate the immediate gains and losses, for the young themselves, in fact, have the opportunity to grow, exercise more, learn more, is the most important. Second, in college, I should communicate with students of various majors as much as possible to broaden my professional horizon and learn more knowledge of various majors. Don't socialize inefficiently, focus on your major and learn as much as you can about multiple subjects.
Wei started his own business in 2012. I think you kept thinking about how to start your own business during tenure. Can you talk about the process?
Let's go through the whole process in chronological order.
In 2006, I joined Nissin Electric (Dalian) Technology Development Co., LTD., a subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric Co., LTD., as a staff member of business Promotion Department. From 2007 to 2008, I was assigned to Shandong Province to take charge of business development in Shandong Province, and promoted the company's products to Hisense Group and Weichai Power.
In 2009, I worked in Japan from July to August 2010. Shocked by Japan's manufacturing technology, determined to introduce more advanced foreign technology to China, to serve Chinese enterprises.
At the end of 2010, I planned to establish a 3D digital technology service center in Dalian to help the company to realize small-batch and multi-variety procurement, to realize rapid detection, and to deliver 3D digital technology services to customers.
In 2012, the parent company divested and left. Dalian Zhongyi Industrial Technology Co., Ltd. was founded based on the application experience of 3D printing technology, believing that 3D digital technology will help innovative r&d enterprises improve r&d efficiency and reduce r&d costs in the future. Start a business with one person.
In the first year of entrepreneurship, the company cooperated with the Institute of Chemistry of Chinese Academy of Sciences in Dalian to provide rapid manufacturing cases for the fuel cell research and development of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
In 2014, it won the first prize of Dalian Jinpu New Area science and technology entrepreneurship
At the end of 2016, dalian 3D Printing Demonstration Base was established in cooperation with dalian Jinpu New Area State-owned assets Platform to promote 3D printing technology into the industrial field. Establish a comprehensive technical service platform integrating 3D design, 3D scanning and 3D printing.
In 2017, I will cooperate with universities in Dalian to enter the field of innovation and entrepreneurship, and become entrepreneurship mentor or technical expert of Dalian Minzu University and Dalian University of Technology, hoping to impart some correct entrepreneurial ideas and spirit to students instead of blindly starting businesses.
In 2018, the company started business integration and established industrial Business Division, cultural and creative Business Division and medical business division.
In 2019, the number of customers exceeded 500, and established the first brand of 3D digital technology service in Dalian.
In 2020, the company made organizational changes to overcome the impact of the epidemic. Companies start from everything from technology, focus on technology, focus on customers, to focus on employees and focus on customers.
In 2021, a New Year of development, the company expanded 3D technology to medical applications and formed cooperation with the First Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. And accumulated more than 14 intellectual property rights, declared the national high-tech enterprises.
When talking about entrepreneurship, we should not only see the bright side. The problems we have faced in the 9 years of entrepreneurship are big and small. How did Wei face and solve the difficulties?
2013-2015 Start-up stage
The biggest difficulty we face is the problem of capital. All the investment is made by ourselves and from the profits we earn, so the development is slow and the scale is restricted.
At that time, the business was actively expanded, the support was reduced, and more profits could be invested in equipment updating and team recruitment. Small enterprises have no background and no resources, so they can only rely on themselves. Only when they are strong, can they have real development. If they introduce external capital or cooperation hastily, it is easy to have operational risks. Therefore, everything in order to expand business, strong own is the way out of the problem.
The middle stage of entrepreneurship from 2016 to 2019
The biggest difficulty is the choice of business direction, which is mainly industrial service or education service, equipment research and development and sales, or asset-light technology application service?
At that time, to consider the development of an enterprise, we should not only rely on technology and efforts, but also consider what is the mode of making money? The model is determined by the direction of the development of the enterprise, although enterprise development for 4 years, survived the beginning the most difficult time, but is still very difficult, equipment research and development, the company without a strong research and development strength, the process of equipment upgrades in the future, it is difficult to guarantee to provide good service, industry is more familiar, and racked up hundreds of customers, For customers in the early stage of product research and development, they can effectively deal with and solve the problems, so we firmly take the road of industrial technology application.
2020-2021 maturity period
The biggest difficulty is the personal challenge of starting to look inward and have a conversation with yourself. In the past, I was expanding my business outwards, and seldom listened to my own inner voice, the inner voice of others, and the voice of my team. In 2019-2020, I especially began to pay attention to internal and spiritual issues. What is my mission? Where do I need to take the company? What should I do with my life? What is the value and meaning of your life after all?
With this problem in mind, I joined Shengwo School and learned with hundreds of enterprise students in Dalian. I made it clear that the meaning of life is to constantly improve one's spirit. As an operator, I need to expand my business and realize a high-yield enterprise.
What do I believe? Take care of the team! We must make employees happy because they join the company, and we must serve customers well, because customers become happier when they meet us. To be a professional technical service company that is helpful to others and beneficial to customers.
A final piece of advice for young people today considering starting a business or facing a choice?
If young people can not start a business, they should not start a business. They should get employment first and then start a business after they have accumulated enough resources. If employment, first go to the right track of the enterprise, such as the world's top 500 enterprises, where there is a perfect system, excellent talent, can let oneself broaden their horizons, continue to learn.
Everyone's personality is different, the way to maintain the mentality is also different, my way is to pay no less than anyone else's efforts, reflect on themselves, thank everyone, think about problems and do things altruistic thinking, be modest, do not be proud, do not have emotional troubles.
You can't change society, you can only change your heart, know what you want, know why you are here. As you change, your external environment changes.
